New York - The City That Never Sleeps

New York, is one of the most iconic cities in the world. The mere mention of its name invokes images of bright lights, yellow taxi cabs, scene's from television and movies, and, of course, its incredible skyline. Located on the east coast of the United States, a visit to The City That Never Sleeps should be on everyone's bucket list and when you get there you should have these things on your 'to do' list.
Statue of Liberty
Located on Liberty Island and only accessible by boat, the Statue of Liberty was gifted to the United States by France in 1886. She is one of the country's most iconic symbols of Freedom. There are some restrictions around access in order to preserve the structure - tickets to ascend to the top of the statue need to be booked well in advance, however a trip to the island is still an incredible experience.
Central Park
Located in the center of Manhattan, Central Park is an incredible 843 acres of land, making it one of the world's largest urban public parks. The park offers visitors a diverse range of things to do. You can go ice staking on one of two rinks, or take a scenic carriage ride through the park or a pedicab tour. Music fans can visit the tribute to John Lennon, Strawberry Fields, or attend one of the many musical events held on the park grounds. You can also visit the historic Belvedere Castle or keep the children happy on one of the many playgrounds.
Broadway
New York is home of theater and Broadway is the place to see it. There a range of time honored classics such as Evita, Phantom of the Opera, Annie, and Chicago. You can also choose Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, child-friendly shows, musicals and operas, Tony winners, or those featuring celebrities.
Times Square
Located in Midtown Manhattan and known as 'The Crossroads of the World' the square is at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue from West 42nd Street to West 47th Street. If you are lucky enough to time your trip to be in New York for New Years Eve then Times Square is the place to be to celebrate with the annual dropping of the ball - a huge Waterford Crystal sphere that is lowered at midnight to signify the beginning of the New Year.
World Trade Center Site
Located in Lower Manhattan it is the location of the previous World Trade Center Twin Towers until they were destroyed in 2001. There is currently reconstruction being undertaken, however it also remains a place for reflection and remembrance.
