The Cathedral of Florence the Most Important Church in Italy

The Cathedral of Florence is one of the largest churches in Europe, this extraordinary architectural and artistic work every day attracts a large number of guided Florence tours and visitors. Its construction of the cathedral in an era where it was not possible to use actual technology can be considered an architectural miracle, Brunelleschi's cupola is still the largest masonry dome ever built, the interior of the cathedral is adorned with the largest surface decorated with frescoes that has ever been made with its 3600 square meters painted by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari
At the end of 1200, when Arnolfo di Cambio began the construction of the Cathedral of Florence and the Palazzo dei Priori delle Arti, which later became the Palazzo della Signoria, Florence was a kind of New York of theMiddle Ages.
Everyone wanted to live here, merchants, bankers, here was the wealth and the latest news in fashion, the navel of the world, really! Florence then had one hundred thousand inhabitants, twice the population of London! Here is revealed the secret of greatness and magnificence of the buildings of the religious and political centre of Florence, so that's whythe size of the imposing Duomo of Florence!
Cathedral of Florence include the extraordinary frescoes of Brunelleschi's dome representing the Last Judgement. They were painted by Giorgio Vasari in the mid-sixteenth century. Inside the Cathedral there is the treasures of the Museum of the Opera del Duomo, including the Pietà Bandini by Michelangelo, masterpieces by Donatello and the Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise, ruined by the flood of November 4, 1966,restored during twenty-seven years of and exposed again to the public in September 2012.
In front to the Cathedral there is the Baptistery, built in Romanesque style, with the stunning mosaics of the dome, dating back to 1200 and the tomb of the anti-pope John the twenty-third sculpted by Donatello and Michelozzo during the Renaissance.
The construction of this church has continued for centuries and in different stages last of which was completed only in 1887 with the construction of the front of the church after many vicissitudes and controversy, considering that the first project for the completion of the front dates back to the times of family of the Medici in 1491 when Lorenzo the Magnificent had promoted a contest to award the work of the front, but he suspended all decision sends it back to better times.
The Cathedral of Florence today as well as being a reference point for Florence tours continues its traditional function as a religious center of the city where the most important celebrations are carried out thanks to its extraordinary capacity that can hold thousands of people.

The Kinh people are mostly based on the plains, particularly in the Red river Delta and the Mekong Delta, while the other ethnic groups are based on the mountainous regions. While each group has its own cultural traditions that differ from each other, they are all united by a common goal and desire for peace, and generally speaking, these ethnic groups that comprise the vietnamese people as a whole are warm, gentle, and visitor friendly.
Religions and Festivals
The land of Vietnam plays host to a myriad of spirituality and religious beliefs that range from Confucianism to Buddhism, as much as Taoism and Animism. Christianity also co-exist with this different religions, also playing an important role in the spiritual life of many Vietnamese.
Vietnam's most important festival is the Tet Nguyen Dan, or the "Feast of the First Morning". Get Enthralled by Beauty of Nature at Uttarey

The mountainous state of Sikkim is ornamented with countless destinations that are blessed heavily by Mother Nature and hence explorers and Nature lovers find immense pleasure there. There are several hot spots that witness huge crowd almost throughout the year. But to explore the scenic nature of Sikkim and enjoy a peaceful holiday, one should choose, from destinations located in its remotest parts. West Sikkim is a very popular tourism zone and Pelling is its biggest attraction. Certainly Pelling is astonishingly beautiful, but it has become crowded and congested. But a 45-minute drive from this hill town takes one to a remote place, which has got everything to provide the eyes and the soul of a Nature lover with the pleasure it seeks. From Singsore Bridge, the second highest gorge bridge in Asia, a rough road leads upwards towards the North to Uttarey, a virgin spot which has become a big attraction, thanks to the breathtaking scenic beauty of the place and absolute tranquility that prevails over there.
Situated at a height of around 6,600 feet on the slope of Singalila range, Uttarey is a small hamlet which seems to be built by Mother Nature at her own will. Set amidst a green forested area with high walls of mountains on all sides, Uttarey is stunningly beautiful and absolutely serene. Breathtaking view of the snow-capped Kanchenjhungha, the Dentum Peak and Singalila, the beautiful green valley lying beneath, serpentine rivers and fresh blooms of Rhododendrons during the spring months make Uttarey a Paradise on Earth, which is still fairly unexplored. For travelers who wish to explore Nature on their feet, Uttarey is the perfect choice. They can go for a gentle morning or afternoon walk through the grassy trails on the slopes to catch a glimpse of the rural life in the village or may go for a canopy walk through the forests of pine, fir and oak. While walking through the greens of Uttarey, one can suddenly discover a monastery, surrounded by tall trees. It is the Kagju Gumpha, considered as a very revered site by the local people. The highlights of the monastery are a collection of beautiful wall paintings and a stunning view of the Dentam Peak and Simphok, Singalila Khola, a river that has flown beautifully scratching the green heart of Uttarey.
During the winter months, Uttarey offers a grand show of snow as the peaks visible from the hamlet get a complete whitewash. The show starts changing gradually as winter slowly makes way for the spring. The entire valley turns into a color palette as Rhododendrons of various shade blooms. It's a color riot that leaves visitors spellbound and shutterbugs find it difficult to switch off their cameras. Many travelers opt for trekking tours to the Main Bus Waterfall and Chewyabhang Pass, two stunning spots within the vicinity of Uttarey. The pass is just 10 kms from the village and could be reached quickly by car. The Simphok Singalila Dara is an equally beautiful spot, especially in the bamboo cane bridge connecting its two sides. The spot offers a great opportunity for taking romantic photographs of couples. Another spot worth visiting from Uttarey is the Maneybong Kagyuk Monastery, which was rebuilt over ruins in 1982.
James is pro travel blogger and writer. He has been an enthusiastic itinerant nomad himself. Uttarey is one of his favorite destinations. Till date he has written many content on Uttarey packages as well as Uttarey also.

Bali Tour: The Hot Spots

With its beautiful islands dotted with pristine beaches, Bali is indeed a stunning destination, one with a charm that will never grow old, full of exotic splendor as much as it is filled with the pampering of modern-day amenities. This mainly is the reason why a Bali tour package is one of the most favorite among travelers from around the world.
To have the best experience from your Bali tour, the following hot spots are suggested:
Ubud
Ubud is renowned as the center for Balinese painting, being home to "Purl Lukisan", a museum that features a permanent collection of modern Balinese art dating from the turn of the century. Apart from Purl Lukisan, a number of art galleries as well as homes of artists thrive here, such as that of Antonio Blanco, an American, as well as Dutchborn Hans Snel. Another museum called Neka Museum features an expansive collection of paintings of Indonesian artists as well as foreign artists who used to live in Bali. Balinese painting today thrives on the "Young artist" style, which was introduced by the Dutch artist Arie Smith. Apart from that, Balinese artists have also been inspired by other foreign artist to adopt western techniques.
Kuta
A thriving resort that is popular primarily among the younger generation, Kuta is formerly just a lonely village. Nowadays, however, it has become a popular beach for surfing, although not so popular for swimming due to the particularly strong currents. It is also characterized by beautiful sunsets, as it is facing the west. Accommodation can be had both from international hotels and homestays. Modern establishments also abound, including restaurants, shops, discos, and other tourist facilities.
Nusa Dua
Located along the Bukit Peninsula in southern Bali, Nusa Dua is famous for its clean, breathtaking white beaches and clear waters. The northern side of the peninsula offers gentle surf, while a bigger surf can be had at the southern side. The resort is accessible by taxi, and accommodations are offered by a number of hotels, some of which are among the most beautiful and luxurious in Bali.
Pura Besakih
Gently seated on the sprawling slopes of Mount Agung is the sanctuary of Besakih, which is considered as the holiest of all Balinese temples. It is also the biggest to date. It is also renowned as the mother temple of Bali, and has an illustrious past, being a thousand years old. Balinese people consider a visit to the temple as a special pilgrimage. The sight of the temple against a background of the mountain is a magnificent view, more so during festivals when banners add a touch of colour and gaiety to the natural scene.
Tanah Lot
Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most important sea temples. Built on top of a huge rock surrounded by the sea, the temple traces its beginnings from the 16th century, having built by a priest that have come to Bali from Java. The temple specially pays homage to the guardians of the sea, and local tradition considers the poisonous sea snakes found at the base of the rock island as temple guardians that protect it from both intruders and evil spirits. During the late afternoons, the temple is in silhouette, giving a magnificent, picturesque view.
Apart from the hot spots given above, Bali has of course other destinations that will make any traveler always on the verge of discovery. That is so because a Bali tour package, indeed, is something that will always claim a special space in a traveler's most treasured moments.

Five Stunning Places to Make You Fall in Love With China

In my time in China I have been privileged to visit countless places of beauty and cultural interest. Here are my five most stunning places that i have been to in the Middle Kingdom.
Beijing by Bike in Beijing 1. The Summit of Emei Shan. Sichuan province
Emei Shan is a mountain is Sichuan province and one of the four sacred holy mountains of China. The climb is over a series of dominating peaks and there is a 40km short route, or a 60 km long route, both of which involve trekking through dense mountain forest paths and endless stone steps, along with not so friendly monkeys that ambush you on bridges in attempt to steal any food and drink exposed on your person. Along the way are numerous Buddhist monasteries and temples and the solitude given from the remote location makes there something extremely spiritual about this place. After one or two long days hike to the summit base camp. There is a further 2 hour ascent up stone steps or a cable car that enables you to short cut this final step to the summit. Once arriving at the very top after all that hard work. The sunrise rising over the serene sea of clouds below you leaves you silent. All the effort of getting to the top suddenly becomes obviously worthwhile.
2. The stunning Li River, Guilin to Yangshuo, Guanxi province.
According to an old Chinese proverb Guilin scenery is the best in the world, and Yangshuo scenery is the best in Guilin. The Limestone Karst landscape creates an unparalleled scene of triangular shaped sharp peaks rising up from the ground and reflecting the sun into the clear river water. The small rafts that you can take typically last 4 hours and during this time you can relax and swim in the pristine river. Such a place for any natural world lover is an absolute paradise and is some of the most photogenic scenery in the entire world.
3. The mountain ascent of Hua Shan, Shanxi province.
'Splendid Mountain'. Close by the old capital of Xian and the Terracotta army is famous for its dangerous looking chain walkways and 2km sheer drops. The mountain has 4 peaks, a North, East, South and Western peak and in the four are connected by a complex multitude of different mountain paths, making it easy to lose your way on the trail. Along the wider, better travelled stretches of mountain paths and steps you will see endless padlocks and red bands symbolising good luck and prosperity. Many of the smaller paths are surrounded by sudden drops and Chains are anchored into the rock to prevent you from falling to the bottom. On one stretch of the mountain there is just a 30cm outcrop with no chain posts. I love Hua Shan because this mountain gives you a feel for the insignificance of man and the great power of nature, along with some stunning views from the peaks.
4. The Great Wall of China, Beijing.
The place everyone knows, it wasn't until 9 months after I started teaching English in China that I finally went to see for myself the great wall. Take the time and pay a little extra to go to a less touristy spot. The wall stretching across endless mountains makes it hard to believe that building such a thing is within human capability. Although the recreated and renovated tourist stretches are great for showing what the wall looked like at its peak, I believe it is important to see the real, actual wall which was standing there at the time of the Invading Mongolian tribes obstructing their path and protecting China. Travelling further West from Beijing to as far as Xian there are numerous stretches of original, old wall, in some places now barely visible. Seeing both old and new gives you and appreciation for the history and reasons behind this great world structure.
5. The Giant Pandas, Chengdu, Sichuan province.
The Giant Panda is such a beautiful creature and that they are almost impossible to see in the wild. Sichuan province's provincial capital Chengdu is home to the only Giant Panda breeding research centre in the world, inexpensive to enter and home to a large number of both giant and red pandas, it is no surprise that this station is so popular. The first time you peak around the corner of the simulated natural bamboo forest enclosure to see these cute gentle giants is enough to captivate any traveller.
All these places have been visited during my time in China. My site http://www.Chinatefler.com contains everything about teaching, living and travelling in China.

A Brief History of Leeds, Yorkshire

While there is no real evidence to support the theory, it is widely assumed that Leeds was the heart of a Roman settlement. The earliest record of the city can be found in Anglo-Saxon texts, referred to as Loidis by the Bede of Jarrow. There is also evidence of fighting around this time, indicating the then Welsh speaking city held out against the Saxons for some time before it was taken over.
So what does Loidis actually mean? Nobody is sure, although academics have surmised that it was most likely the name of the tribe in the area (many towns and cities founded their names in this way). It coud mean 'people of the flowing river', which could be a very early reference to the river which runs through Leeds, the River Aire. Over time, as accents changed and language evolved, Loidis became Leedis and so on, until we finally end up with Leeds. Interestingly, some residents of Leeds refer to themselves as 'Leeds Loiners' which could be a reference to its ancient name, but that's just speculation.
How big was Leeds? When it was settled it was a lot larger than it is now, bordering the Viking Kingdom of Jorvik and the Welsh kingdom of Strathclyde (which then included Cumbria, Lancashire and most of south west Scotland!). There are records of a saint visiting the two kingdoms mentioned above, who was received hospitably by both kings. During the saint's passage, the two kings met in Leeds which was a gateway from one kingdom to the other.
By Medieval times Leeds was extremely well established. It became a small village in 1086 and belonged to a Norman baron who lived in Pontefract Castle. It was around this time the Abby inKirstall was founded on the Aire and industries like iron forging and wool spinning began to surface. It is rumoured that during this period Kirstall Abbey owned 5,000 sheep. Like most other cities in Yorkshire, Leeds began to flourish with industrial trade. Grain, wool and cloth were made here extremely early on, and put Leeds on the map as a centre for trade and commerce. By 1560, Leeds saw its first major street and really began to take shape and later that century its first mayor was appointed to oversee its 4,000 residents.
Today Leeds is an extremely diverse centre of commerce, home to many businesses and companies, and its a really worthwhile place to spend the day.
Martin Groves is a Yorkshire resident and architecture aficionado. He also supports many local businesses in the area. If you're looking for windows and doors in the Leeds area check out Coral Windows in Leeds and their windows, doors & conservatory showroom.

Things to Do in Bali

Visiting Bali

Many people are familiar with Bali that is located in Indonesia. People are already familiar with its unique culture, its heritage and the variety of things that can be done there. This does not mean though that people have already gone there. A lot of people plan but their plans are usually overshadowed because there are other countries, options that are considered and chosen instead. For those who still do not realize the beauty of Bali, you should know that there are a lot of things that can be done there with any of the available Bali tour package. All you need to do is plan what you want to do and you will be able to achieve more.
More Than Just Beaches
A lot of tourists think that Bali does not offer anything aside from its wonderful beaches. The traditional beach bum may want to see it just to see the difference that it has with other countries but the truth is that Bali has spots and attractions that are beyond what is expected. The rich culture of Bali is always apparent and this is one thing that makes the whole place different from any other place that you will see on earth.
Biking In Bali
Like mentioned earlier, there are still other things that can be seen beyond Bali. You may be surprised to know that you can actually bike around there. The best biking spot in Bali is in Ubud. There are some people who would want to take the bike around the streets so that they can check out different attractions there. Aside from biking, you may also want to try out climbing Mt. Batur. This is usually available through availing package tours that you can purchase and register for on the Internet even before you arrive in Bali.
Water Sports and Night Life
There is a variety of water sports that you can try. If you have always wanted to try surfing, you can probably achieve that when you go to Bali. There are some spots that are considered better for surfing though so it will be best to research ahead of time so that you know exactly where you would need to go. Kuta is usually the recommended spot for surfing. Aside from that, the night life in this place is always kicking. This is where you will find all the nice things about beaches and partying. You will surely enjoy Kuta if you are into those kinds of things.
Diving In Bali
If staying above water is not really your thing, you may want to go under the water and experience seeing life under the sea. Menjangan Island is known to be a spot where not a lot of people go to because it is a bit secluded and not very appealing to people who go to Bali to party. This fact makes it perfect for snorkelling. Trying this out will expose you to the beauty of the sea underneath the surface. Do remember that it may take hours before you arrive at this place from Bali but when you are there, you will realize that it is all worth it.

Exploring Coshieville and Surrounding Area in Perthshire, Scotland

Business Class Flights from Fare BuzzCoshieville is a small hamlet situated a few miles away from Aberfeldy towards the villages of Kenmore and the stunning, incredibly picturesque, Glen Lyon in Highland Perthshire. It is a real hidden gem of a location for your holiday in Scotland. If you are a keen road cyclist you will be spoiled for choice for routes. Those who enjoy climbing on the bike and perhaps have an eye on one day winning(!) the famous polka-dot jersey at the Tour de France will be impressed with the terrain and availability of some categorised climbs close by such as at the Schiehallion road as well as the climb from Glen Lyon to Lawers via the Ben Lawers visitor centre road. If your legs and lungs can handle the exertion you will be rewarded with stunning views as well as exciting descents. The roads are very quiet in this part of the world but do be aware that cars do use these routes, especially during the summer months, so keep safe when you cycle and be ready to use the brakes if required!

For those who prefer a more relaxed journey on two wheels there are also many options. Cycle towards Aberfeldy or Grandtully and explore the many fantastic tea rooms for a well earned cuppa or soup. The Watermill bookshop in Aberfeldy is a fascinating place to spend a few hours with a fascinating collection of books as well as an excellent art gallery that features local and contemporary exhibitions. After purchasing a book sit down and relax and enjoy delicious home-made soups, salads, sandwiches and home-baking. Alternatively you may wish to satisfy your sweet tooth, in which case a trip to the Highland Chocolatier at Grandtully is a must. Here you will meet Iain Burnett, the chocolatier who has garnered quite a reputation for the tantalising truffles he produces in this corner of Perthshire. of course, it should be noted that Coshieville features on the route of the fantastic Etape Caledonia cycling sportive, thus the roads have been recognised as excellent for cycling and more and more businesses are catering to those touring and in need of quality sustenance to keep the spirits up! Soups at Highland Safaris in the village of Dull and at Castle Menzies are also well worth a try.
Walkers and runners will also have an abundance of trails and hills to explore. Munro baggers should not leave without completing the ascent of Ben Lawers and Schiehallion, both real features of the surrounding landscape. There are also many walks in the area including at Drummond Hill and along the River Tay.
Loch Tay hosts an array of water sports in the summer and is also easily accessible from Coshieville. Horse riding is also available. Thus there are plenty of activities for you and the family to enjoy whilst also being in a place where you can relax and completely unwind, far away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life.
There are a number of excellent accommodation options in Highland Perthshire including a cosy Bed and Breakfast in Coshieville.

Adare Golf Course - An Excellent Irish Course and Great Place to Stay

Adare Golf Course, located just 25 miles from Shannon Airport in southwest Ireland, this is a great place to play a round of golf on a wonderful Irish course. Plus you will probably stay at the adjacent Adare Manor, just a short walk from the course. This 18-hole Championship Course opened in 1995 and the last major golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Senior is considered one of his finest creations.
The front nine works around a 14 acre lake and the entire course prominently brings into play the River Maigue. I played the course in June, which the locals will tell you is when Ireland is at its most brilliant emerald. But with the mature trees, water and parkland setting will make it a memorable round of golf if you plan to play here.
But there is a lot more than golf. The Adare Manor Hotel will really top off your stay, as the accommodations are excellent and the restaurant really first-rate. The original structure was built on the site in the 1720s, and in 1832 work began on the magnificent structure. It was built around the older structure which was then torn down in about 1862.
Over the years it gradually fell into disrepair due to the high cost of upkeep, and in 1984 sold the building and contents to an American businessman Tom Kane. While converting it into the five-star hotel that it is, he tried to retrieve some of the valuable artifacts that had been sold locally by the previous owner. The Manor Hotel was voted Ireland's leading hotel at the World Travel Awards in the years 2010-2012, plus the world's leading boutique golf resort in 2012.
I would strongly recommend you play Adare golf course and stay at the Manor Hotel. They will run packages even in summer that are quite attractive. The village of Adare is within walking distance, and it is a charming Irish town. Renowned as one of Ireland's prettiest villages, it will seem more planned than most small Irish towns.
Then there is the general location of Adare: located in County Limerick, it is only about ninety minutes from the Ring of Kerry. This is an extremely picturesque drive that is not real easy to traverse, but the scenery is well worth the driving hassle. Another popular tourist destination about an hour from Adare are the Cliffs of Moher, just south of Galway. At their highest they rise 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean, and attract almost one million visitors a year.
Booking tee times on golf courses such as this one is not that difficult. Click here to go to how to check out the courses as well as finding bargains. Also, see our article on sites to see in the United Kingdom. Glen Wheaton is a writer and avid golfer living in Chicago.

Be a Tourist in the Beautiful City of Vancouver

Having lived in the surrounding communities of Vancouver all my life, I have also played tourist in this city that so many wish they could visit. Many people never visit the attractions of their own hometowns preferring instead to travel to faraway places.
Vancouver has many lovely places to visit. The following are only some of them:
Stanley Park - at 125 years old is the third largest park in North America. It has an 8.8 km seawall where people bike, skate and jog. The park is over 1,000 acres of serenity and beauty with a view of the ocean, many old trees and multiple gardens. Also in the park is a popular train, a replica of a CPR train from the late 1880's. It winds its way 2 km over trestles and through tunnels and forests. During Halloween season it becomes a ghost train and at Christmas it is specially decorated for the season with thousands of lights. At the Aquarium, also in the park, there are many different exhibits. Particularly interesting are the jellyfish, and beluga and dolphin shows. There are over 50,000 varieties of species as well as many colourful butterflies for your enjoyment.
Science World - is a learning experience. Each visit is different and a day is hardly long enough to see everything. One time on a visit, dinosaur's were featured and another time, it was the science of the human body. They have many shows and exhibits making Science World a great place for children and adults alike to visit.
Capilano Canyon Suspension Bridge - built in 1889 gives access for walks through the surrounding rainforest. There is also a cliff walk, and a tree top adventure ideal for viewing 1,300 year old old-growth Douglas Firs. It is a great place to visit even if you are like me and want to enjoy the experience without the necessity of looking down into the great abyss below.
UBC Botanical Garden - is home to the Greenheart Canopy Walkway, a 1,010 foot aerial trail system offering a view of the natural beauty of the west coast forest. Many of these trees are over a century old. There is also the Nitobe Memorial Garden, an alpine garden and the Asian garden. We have been there in late Spring and early Summer but every season is beautiful.
Canada Place - home of the unique sails, hosts many events. We recently attended 'Fly Over Canada' which was a wonderful experience of soaring over our country with the breeze in our face as well as mists from Niagara Falls. From Canada Place you can look out over the water and see Stanley Park.
H.R. MacMillan Space Center (the Planetarium) - has exhibits, activities and various shows. It is very educational and is interesting for adults as well as the children in your family. Most of us who live in and near a city will never see the real beauty of the stars in the sky, the milky way or any part of the solar system. A visit here will show you what it's like.
Granville Island - is not only a public market with fresh produce but is also home to galleries, childrens' shops, jewelery stores, pottery, a brewing company and restaurants where you can sit and savor the beautiful views of the water and enjoy a great meal.
Gastown - is Vancouver's oldest area, the original city. It has retained its historic atmosphere with cobbled streets, original buildings and old-style courtyards with shops and restaurants. There are tourist shops and a statue of 'Gassy' Jack Deighton who arrived in Vancouver in 1867 and opened the area's first saloon. There is also an old steam clock which produces a Westminster-type chime to signal the time of day.
Grouse Mountain - in North Vancouver has a skyride, a zipline, paragliding, the popular grouse grind used by hikers and golfing on top of the mountain. For those more inclined to enjoy the mountain in a less exuberant manner, there is the gondola ride to the peak for dinner where you can overlook the skyline of Vancouver with its beautiful sunsets and mountain vistas.
The Seabus to Lonsdale Quay Public Market - where you can purchase fresh produce at the market as well as assorted other foods. Sitting at tables provided for an impromptu lunch, you can admire the city of Vancouver and contemplate looking further at flower arrangements, arts and crafts, jewelery or sweets. The Seabus is an adventure in itself.
Even as a resident of one of Vancouver's suburbs, and one who has been to these attractions often, I can still appreciate all that Vancouver has to offer. Any one of them make for a great day of entertainment.
